Evan & Ann Engell Nomination for ISA HOF 2025

It is my honour and great pleasure to nominate Evan and Ann Engell to the International Shuffleboard Association (ISA) Hall of Fame “Special Award” category.
I met this lovely young couple in 2016 at an Ontario Shuffleboard Association (OSA) tournament that was hosted by my home club. It’s natural when new people attend, everyone wants to know who they are. It didn’t take me long to fall in love with them. I found out how Evan’s dad lived for shuffleboard and participated in several ISA Championships. This reminded me of my dad’s love for shuffleboard.
Who would believe in 9 years I’m nominating this couple. Evan and Ann are committed to shuffleboard and are wonderful ambassadors to shuffleboard. They hosted an outstanding Championship in 2024 at San Benito, Texas. They had planned on hosting in 2021 but was cancelled because of Covid. Evan tells me that Ann was the true driving force behind their successful ISA Championship in Texas last fall. Evan goes on to say, “Not much distracts me from organizing, running around, playing, and just having fun”.
Evan and Ann have taken on many responsibilities on the OSA and the Canadian National Shuffleboard Association (CNSA). Ann has been and continues to be the Secretary for the CNSA and on the Membership Committee for the OSA. Evan is President of the OSA and manages to play while being the tournament director. They are active in their clubs in Texas and Ontario. They have participated in 5 ISA Championships. Each event I’m so proud of them representing our country Canada. Evan and Ann always display true sportsmanship. They also show kindness and integrity to everyone. Evan and Ann add charm and lots of camaraderie to these memorial events.
I’ve had the pleasure of being entertained in their lovely cozy home. On their wall you will read this sign by Abe Lincoln…”Live a good life, and in the end, it’s not the years in a life, it’s the life in the years”.
Evan and Ann both play an important role in the success of the ISA, and for this I would be greatly pleased if the ISA Voting Members would kindly support this nomination.
Respectfully submitted
